Lost in Space Episode 7 One of the most charming aspects of Lost in Space so far has been its investment in problem solving as a plot device. The show, itself opens with the ultimate problem – Help! We’ve crash-landed on an alien planet! The whole conceit of this whole thing is for our characters to find a solution. Even beyond that though, every episode has been presented as featuring a series of additional problems that the characters must confront....

We made it. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finally finished its run on Disney+ this week, and no one must have been happier about it than the cast and crew of the ambitious Marvel series, who had to fight tooth and nail to get it wrapped up during a global pandemic. There weren’t too many surprises in the finale, but the show delivered pretty much everything it promised. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) took up the Captain America mantle and tried to resolve the Flag-Smashers situation once and for all, but ended up giving a passionate speech about the nature of terrorism and the grey areas that many politicians would rather pretend didn’t exist instead....

So, we now officially know that Marvel’s Loki will be back for Season 2, but this week it finished up its first season on Disney+ by blowing up the MCU as we know it and re-establishing the Marvel multiverse, which once existed but was actually at war with itself. Apparently, Miss Minutes was at least telling the truth in that part of her TVA orientation video. In the Loki finale, “For All Time....

Over the span of a truly jam-packed eight seconds, the footage finally presents audiences’ first glimpses of Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok) as Gilgamesh, and Salma Hayek as Ajak. The clip also featured one more unexpected star, however, and it was a literal one: the sun! Just about every Eternals moment in Marvel’s first look is bathed in beautiful, natural light....

Thankfully, Marvel chief Kevin Feige and the Disney powers-that-be agreed. Not only did Disney+ Day come with some much-needed updates on long-awaited Marvel TV titles, but they were saved until the very end of the presentation....

Not very, as it turns out. As soon as the bell rings, Johnny pulls an honest-to-Raiden split, just like he’s Jean-Claude Van Damme, and punches the stony monster directly in the loincloth. At least in ’95, director Paul W.S. Anderson understood the assignment when it came to adapting video games to live-action, and Ashby’s Johnny Cage rocked that interpretation with real movie star charm. Twenty-six years later, we’re about to see a new Mortal Kombat reboot on HBO Max and in theaters, which is exciting....

Muppets Now Episode 5 Muppets Now ends its first and possibly only season with its sixth episode “Socialized.” I couldn’t imagine a more fitting season finale for this show. Half of it relies on the same tired gags as every episode before it. The other half is fresh and shows that although the show can be incredibly tedious, there’s still absolute gold to be mined in there. The framing plot this time around is that Kermit’s nephew Robin is the show’s social media intern and is constantly bugging Scooter by showing him how much support he has from the other Muppets....

Granted, Room 413 in the Breaker Hotel may be at least partially an owner-run hoax – Nancy isn’t even sure that anyone even died there, in the end – but it wouldn’t shock me if it actually turned out to be haunted anyway....

The first part of Netflix horror trilogy Fear Street has now arrived on the streaming service. It’s an homage to ‘90s slashers based on the Fear Street books by R.L. Stine and it is set in the town of Shadyside, a place riddled with tragedy. Is the town itself cursed? That’s what the series of three films will explore (the next two installments will be arriving weekly). Part one begins with a seemingly unprovoked massacre in a mall, which ends in further tragedy as the masked killer is gunned down by police....
